Heart
Motif
Jewelry

The shape of the HEART
denotes the center of both the spiritual and physical being, and in
early days was thought to be the seat of mental abilities as well. In the western
world it symbolizes love, charity, and passion. It is drawn in a
stylized version, not the actual shape of the human heart, and is often
colored red. Associated with
Valentine’s Day, it is a gift of love in the form of jewelry. Heart
motif jewelry is a classic, found in almost every jewelry catalogue no
matter what the date. The material from which it is made may change with
fashions of the era, but the motif itself remains the same as you can
see in these examples.

BRACELET
9ct yellow gold charm bracelet with padlock, marked in two
places on the padlock "GJLd 9 375" for 9 carat gold. The initials
could be for "Georg Jensen Ld." but I don’t have firm proof of that
identification. While it looks like it opens with a key, it doesn’t, it is a
click-open and snap-shut type catch, which works perfectly. It has
it’s safety chain and is 7-1/2" by 1/4", padlock 13/16" by 1/2". I had
the idea to add baby rings as charms on this enchanting bracelet, but never
did do it. I’m showing the photo just to give the inspiration though!

attributed heart bracelet with ruby red and clear
rhinestones on a smooth and easy to wear gold tone mesh band, 6-1/2"
wearable length and 1" band. The heart center is about 2" by 2". As
you can see in the photo, there is very slight wear to the gold tone
finish on the back side, but the rest of the bracelet is in excellent
condition, including the rhinestones. The heart element is stationary
as it should be, and it does not move up and down on the band. Based on
signed pieces I have seen in the past, I believe this is an unsigned
Reja bracelet. It is lovely and in overall very good vintage
condition. It’s perfect for Valentine’s Day or as a love symbol for all
year long.
