I fell in love with jewelry early, buying my very first "box lot" at the
age of 12. I love anything shiny. If it
glitters, if it's colorful... it must go back to my nest!
During the 1970-80's I was an artist.
I began small, teaching the then-popular craft of tole painting, but moved
quickly into fine art, getting my MBA in Studio Art. While early paintings
were small studies of flowers and fruit, my later ones were 5 foot by 18
foot landscapes and non-representational alkyd enamels on canvas.
That appreciation for color and the
paint stroke made the first Trifari enamel I ever saw almost jump
into my lap by itself! You know, it is hard to negotiate price when
clutching to your bosom a truly terrific piece of Trifari. That dealer
*knew* there was NO WAY I would pass up that piece! Ahhh well, not a
bargain, but definitely a love affair in the making. "Painted" jewelry
has a beauty all it's own.
