Joseph GOURDJI

born 1927- died 2009

Born in Baghdad, Iraq, Joseph Gourdji came to American at the age of 12 in 1939.
His creative life included everything from ice skating professionally with Sonja
Henie to being an antiques dealer to making his own line of unique jewelry. This
New York man made his wonderful jewelry from the 1990s until his death. Many of
his pieces are enamel on metal, often pierced and with rhinestone accents. A
very few are paper with hand drawn and painted pictures. They are hand-made, one
of a kind pieces and unlike anyone else’s designs.
