  DeRosa best jewelry is known for its complex dimensional design, high quality components, translucent enameling and wonderful coloring. Ralph DeRosa jewelry designs range from floral, figural, retro motifs, and designs inspired by the precious jewelry of the era.  DeRosa best quality jewelry is not always easy to find, but is certainly worth the search. This New York City firm was at 404 Fourth Street in New York City and made jewelry from the mid-1930's until the 1970's. Like many jewelry makers, their 1940's jewelry is their best.

DEROSA gold tone hand holding the torch of liberty fur clip with clear rhinestone accents, circa 1945, 3". The detail in this is really amazing, and while the clear rhinestone are grayed, I wouldn't change them. This can be worn as a patriotic piece or solely for it's beauty. It is a very rare DeRosa clip. A piece like this can be seen in the book "Bijoux" by Dena F. Cera on page 225.     View   #d28488
 

DeROSA gold tone tree fur clip with pink rhinestones, green enameled leaves and a wonderful enameled peacock sitting under the tree, circa 1940s, 3". There is wear on the gold tone finish as can be seen in the pictures, but you must look closely to see most of it. The pink rhinestones are tulip shaped, very unusual, and have a lavender flash in the color. Each stone is smooth on the top and has flat sides. The clear rhinestones are slightly grayed. This is a VERY rare piece, the only one I have seen like it so far in all my years in collecting DeRosa and in this business, although surely more must have been made. It is one of the very best of the DeRosa designs.   View   View   #d22075

DEROSA sterling vermeil and aqua rhinestone flower brooch with rose gold and yellow gold wash, 3-1/8". It is interesting to see that DeRosa made some of their designs as both brooches and fur clips. DeRosa and Hobe  bracelet clasps. While these are both very typically Hobe looking, the top one is signed "DeRosa". I wish I had a shot of the front of the DeRosa bracelet, too. The similarity is amazing and yet there is no documented connection I am aware of between Hobe and DeRosa.
